I Care & Consult provided support to the “Cleaner Energy Saving in South Mediterranean Cities” (CES MED) programme in Morocco and Tunisia. The CES-MED programme aims to strengthen involvement and capacity of local authorities in the area of energy and climate planning and to facilitate their engagement as part of the Covenant of Mayors. I Care & Consult was selected to support 6 cities: Agadir, Benslimane, Oujda in Morocco and Sfax, Kairouan, Sousse in Tunisia.
The project involved 4 main tasks : (1) Preparation of a baseline emission inventory (BEI) for each city ; (2) Elaboration of a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP); (3) Drafting of 5 detailed project fiches per city describing priority projects; (4) Development of a communication and awareness raising plan.
As part of this project, I Care & Consult have organized and facilitated several meetings and workshops with city officials and technical staff, various economic players, regional representatives of ministries, associations…
SEAPs are a decision-making tool that help define a direction for the development of the municipalities by 2020, through the integration of energy efficiency and renewable energy issues in all sectors of the territory: housing, services, industry and transport.
