The Kef Governorate, in Tunisia, is committed to a decentralized cooperation with the department of Seine-Maritime, in France. The energy and environment topics were identified as a particularly important topic for the Governorate and a project of realization of a Climate-Energy Territorial Plan was engaged.
The elaboration of the Climate-Energy Profile was developed around two complementary axes:
- The mitigation of climate change: a diagnosis of the greenhouse gas emissions was realized on the territory and the administrative entity to understand the profile of their emissions and identify lines of action to reduce the emissions.
- The adaptation to climate change (rising of temperatures, evolution of rainfall…): a vulnerability to climate change study was realized to identify the action-levers to elaborate an adaptation strategy in the short and medium term.
A feedback meeting took place the 25th of February 2016 to present the main results of the study to the elected representatives and the territory’s stakeholders. A second project phase is awaiting validation for the development of a mitigation and adaptation action plan.
